Responsibilities
The Azure Front Door team at Microsoft is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the development and operation of a highly scalable, performant, and reliable service. The team is responsible for building and operating infrastructure globally, delivering a sophisticated service with CDN, Global Load Balancing, and Protection capabilities to enhance customer experiences and safeguard against internet threats.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements for scenarios.
- Drive identification of dependencies and develop design documents for products, applications, services, or platforms.
- Implement, optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to improve performance, maintainability, and ROI.
- Leverage subject-matter expertise and work with project managers to drive project plans, release plans, and work items.
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), guiding other engineers and monitoring system/product/service for issues.
- Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to trends, technical solutions, and patterns to enhance product availability, reliability, and efficiency.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Experience in systems programming, distributed systems, and building cloud services.
- Domain knowledge in networking, virtualization technologies, container ecosystem, and network resilience.
- Familiarity with gRPC, Linux/Unix systems, and container platforms and technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
Other Qualifications
- Must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred
- Experience in creating and operating distributed services in Azure/AWS/GCP or competitive offerings.
- Familiarity with Microsoft .NET technologies (C# and .NET Framework) or competitive offerings.
- Knowledge of application (HTTP, HTTPS), transport & security (TCP/UDP, TLS) protocols.
- Familiarity with L7 proxy (nginx, envoy, haproxy) is a plus.
- Contributions to open-source software projects.
