Role Overview

As an Engineering Manager within the Linux Systems Group, you'll lead the charge in developing and advancing Linux-based technologies critical to Microsoft's cloud infrastructure. Your responsibilities will span research, development, and strategy, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive impactful solutions for our global customer base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a highly motivated team focused on Linux and open-source projects.
  • Drive research and development initiatives to enhance Azure's private and public cloud infrastructures.
  • Engage closely with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate design and coding efforts across multiple projects.
  • Cultivate a culture of empowerment, clarity, initiative, and autonomy within your team, while prioritizing talent growth and empathy.
  • Contribute to system-level design and implementations, solving large-scale enterprise issues.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams across geographic locations to deliver cutting-edge solutions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in system-level development on Linux using C.
  • 2+ years of experience in managing and leading teams.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and planning skills, with a focus on team success.
  • Proficiency in Linux kernel fundamentals such as memory management, process scheduling, networking, storage, and file systems.

Preferred

  • Proven track record in designing, developing, debugging, and validating products.
  • Experience collaborating with external entities such as open-source communities or standards bodies.
  • Passion for engineering excellence and quality across Dev, Test, and Support functions.
  • History of contributions to the Linux kernel or other open-source projects.
  • Technical passion, exceptional problem-solving skills, and self-motivation.
