As a Software Engineer - Tracking (Mobile, Android) at LinkedIn, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing features for the Tracking SDK used in LinkedIn's native Android applications. Leveraging your expertise in Java, Android development, and software engineering principles, you will contribute to the seamless collection of member engagement data critical for driving business insights, enhancing product experiences, and informing strategic decisions.
Responsibilities
- Design and Development. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features in the Tracking SDK, focusing on improving the collection of member engagement data from LinkedIn's Android applications. Utilize mobile operating system frameworks to optimize data collection, storage, and user experience across diverse device configurations.
- Architectural Solutions. Evaluate architectural trade-offs and apply synchronous and asynchronous design patterns to optimize the Tracking SDK's performance, scalability, and reliability. Implement robust solutions for multi-threading, data persistence, and graphics rendering to ensure seamless data collection and processing.
- Quality Assurance. Produce high-quality software by adhering to rigorous testing, code review, and continuous integration practices. Write clean, maintainable code that meets quality standards and contributes to the overall stability and reliability of LinkedIn's mobile applications.
- Technical Leadership. Provide technical leadership within the team, driving best engineering practices and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Lead by example in initiating, planning, and executing large-scale, cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving data collection efficiency and driving business impact.
- Engineering Productivity. Identify opportunities to enhance engineering productivity and optimize data collection practices. Evangelize best practices, tools, and techniques for improving code quality, performance, and scalability, ultimately enabling the team to deliver high-quality software with speed and efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of industry experience.
- At least 1 year of programming experience in Java and Android development.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant work experience.
- Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Proficiency in object-oriented design, coding, and testing patterns.
- Familiarity with mobile application design patterns and client/server communication principles.
- Knowledge of multithreading and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience with Android debugging tools and automated testing.
- Proficiency in Kotlin and Java programming languages.
