Position Overview. Software Engineer - Azure Storage
About Us
Are you ready to be part of a high-performance team working on the largest Object Storage service globally? Join the Azure Storage team, responsible for building, managing, and running Cloud Storage for Microsoft Azure Cloud. Our team handles distributed systems scaling to Exabyte of storage across data centers worldwide. Azure Storage is a foundational service in the Azure Cloud, supporting various storage services like Blob Storage, Table Storage, Queue Storage, File Storage, Disk Storage, and Data Lake Store. As a Software Engineer, you'll contribute to powering millions of Azure virtual machines, storing vast amounts of data for some of the world's largest companies and Microsoft's key online businesses.
Responsibilities
- Work in a world-class, inclusive, and collaborative engineering team.
- Tackle challenges of scale and criticality, broadening your engineering horizons.
- Support the identification of dependencies and develop design documents for product features.
- Assist in breaking down work items into tasks, providing estimations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to determine user requirements for features.
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product features for issues and recommend actions to restore services.
- Learn to create and implement code for products, services, or features, reusing code as applicable.
Qualifications
Required Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python.
- OR
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check. This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Desired Skills
- Experience in developing with cloud technologies, preferably Azure.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and large-scale data storage.
- Strong coding skills in one or more languages like C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Understanding of design principles, system architecture, and software engineering best practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, live-site focused environment.
