As a Senior Software Engineer at PhonePe, you'll play a pivotal role in building robust, scalable web-based applications that cater to our ever-growing user base. Your primary focus will be on developing scalable platforms with a keen eye for reusability and abstraction. You'll tackle high-level business and technical challenges, drive problem-solving initiatives, and lead the execution of medium-sized projects. Collaborating closely with Product Managers, you'll translate features into actionable capabilities, track their impact, and iterate for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop robust and scalable web-based applications, emphasizing platform thinking and reusability.
- Design abstractions and contracts with separation of concerns to facilitate scalability and maintainability.
- Lead problem-solving efforts for high-level business and technical challenges.
- Conduct high-level design activities, including functional modeling and module breakdown.
- Implement incremental changes to the architecture, conducting impact analysis as needed.
- Optimize performance and enhance large-scale distributed systems.
- Mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers to translate features into actionable capabilities.
- Lead the execution of medium-sized projects, tracking their impact and iterating for improvement.
Qualifications
- Extensive programming experience in at least one general programming language (e.g., Java, C, C++), with a focus on writing maintainable, scalable, and unit-tested code.
- Strong expertise in multi-threading and concurrency programming.
- Deep understanding of object-oriented design principles, design patterns, and the ability to design intuitive interfaces.
- Proficiency in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and writing comprehensive test suites.
- Knowledge of databases such as MySQL and NoSQL solutions like HBase, Elasticsearch, Aerospike, etc.
- Proven track record of solving complex real-world problems and a strong desire to tackle challenging technical issues.
- Experience with full life cycle development on a Linux platform.
- Startup experience with a high level of ownership and commitment.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field.
- 5-7 years of hands-on coding and problem-solving experience in a large-scale environment.
- Effective communication skills and openness to giving and receiving feedback.
