We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Software Test Engineer to join our team of innovative developers and QA professionals. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering high-quality software by developing robust test plans, validating product features, and ensuring the reliability and performance of Visa’s cutting-edge applications.
As a Software Test Engineer, you’ll work closely with cross-functional Agile teams to test web applications, APIs, and complex data pipelines. You'll be responsible for manual and automated testing, issue triaging, test reporting, and maintaining quality throughout the software development lifecycle. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful products while honing your skills in functional testing, test automation, and data validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA leads within Agile sprint teams to ensure thorough testing of all product features and services.
- Translate business and technical requirements into comprehensive test plans and test cases, ensuring full coverage across UI, API, and backend layers.
- Execute manual and automated tests for web applications and APIs across multiple platforms and browsers.
- Participate actively in bug triaging, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting with development teams.
- Design and develop automated test scripts using Java or TypeScript, contributing to the regression and continuous integration (CI) testing pipeline.
- Prepare detailed test reports, defect logs, and release readiness summaries to provide stakeholders with clear insights into product quality.
- Work on ETL/data pipeline testing, ensuring data consistency, correctness, and transformation accuracy across multiple systems.
- Validate Power BI dashboards and reports, including visuals, filters, and DAX expressions, to ensure they align with business expectations.
- Support UAT and production deployments, validating data and functionality in live environments.
- Promote test automation adoption and help build reusable test frameworks for scalable quality assurance practices.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant QA or software testing experience.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, QA methodologies, and defect tracking processes.
- Hands-on experience with Java or TypeScript and automation frameworks/tools.
- Exposure to functional, regression, and integration testing practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid experience in ETL/data pipeline testing and validation of data transformations.
- Proficiency in writing and executing SQL queries for data validation, data profiling, and source-to-target reconciliation.
- Ability to interpret and validate data mappings, ensuring alignment with data engineering design and business rules.
- Familiarity with Power BI testing, including report verification, filter testing, DAX expression validation, and UI verification.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with sprint-based development and testing.
- Exposure to API testing tools (e.g., Postman, RestAssured) and test automation frameworks.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to work cross-functionally with developers, analysts, and QA teams.
