As a Senior Principal Engineer within the Tracking Team at LinkedIn, you will play a pivotal role in architecting and developing our next-generation Tracking platform. This platform is vital for accurately collecting and analyzing user interaction data across our web and mobile applications, driving business insights, enhancing product relevance, and ensuring accurate reporting of core metrics. Your leadership will be instrumental in building large-scale distributed systems that operate seamlessly across multiple technology stacks, serving our billion-plus users worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership in designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
- Architect, optimize, and implement distributed systems with a focus on security and compliance.
- Define technical strategies for complex requirements, collaborating across organizational boundaries to solve open-ended problems.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, elevating the engineering organization's skill set.
- Collaborate closely with leadership to influence the technical roadmap of multiple initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement by establishing and implementing best practices.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and contribute to the open-source community.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- 13+ years of industry experience with a proven track record in technical leadership.
- Expertise in architecting, building, and operating large-scale systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related discipline.
- Extensive experience in technical leadership roles, with a focus on distributed systems.
- Familiarity with open-source projects and academic research in large-scale distributed systems.
- Demonstrated success in delivering production-grade distributed systems and influencing leadership.
- Deep expertise in Big Data technologies and distributed databases.
- Experience with AI applications in latency-aware production systems.
