Job Description

At Google, our mantra is simple: "Build it, break it, and then rebuild it better." This philosophy is central to how we approach testing. As a Test Engineer at Google, you won’t be doing manual testing—your focus will be on writing scripts to automate testing processes and creating tools that empower developers to test their own code efficiently. Your role will involve navigating Google's expansive codebase to identify vulnerabilities and continuously innovate ways to break software to reveal potential issues. Your contributions will directly enhance the quality and reliability of Google’s diverse and expanding suite of products and services.

Responsibilities

  1. SAP Workloads Testing. Evaluate SAP workloads on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to assess impacts on customer-equivalent systems following platform changes and new feature integrations.
  2. Test Planning. Review business requirements and functional/design specifications to prepare comprehensive test plans. Conduct thorough testing to ensure software functionality, data integrity, and performance meet expectations.
  3. User Journey Testing. Design and execute test plans that evaluate critical user journeys for SAP software systems on Google Cloud infrastructure. This includes varying load levels on different compute infrastructures and integrating with other systems, such as Google’s BigQuery.
  4. Test Case Development. Build and maintain test cases on GCP infrastructure, including test data. Document and update functional and load test plans using industry-standard testing tools.
  5. Quality Assurance. Ensure that all deliverables meet both functional and performance goals. Identify, replicate, and report defects, and verify bug fixes to maintain high software quality.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  2. Experience. 3 years of experience in coding, developing test methodologies, writing test plans, creating test cases, and debugging.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in specialized testing (e.g., production testing, system integration testing, functional and performance testing).
  • 1 year of experience working within a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python.
