As a UX Engineer, you will be a part of a cross-disciplinary team consisting of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Engineers, and Program Managers. You’ll collaborate closely to gather insights about user behavior, attitudes, and emotions, and apply them to develop features that deliver both value to users and innovation for Google’s business.
In this role, you will work at the front end of Google’s products, where you’ll merge UX design with execution, ensuring high accessibility and user experience standards. Your role will focus on building products that help users connect, collaborate, and communicate seamlessly.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience in front-end development, technical UX design, or prototyping.
- Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- 4 years of experience with software/design tools such as React Native, Git, and Figma.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in developing responsive, adaptive, and high-performance websites and applications.
- 3 years of experience working as a front-end developer, UX Engineer, or in a prototyping design role.
- Proficiency in additional programming languages: Swift, Kotlin, Dart, Python, Ruby, Java, or C++.
- Experience with ES2015+ or TypeScript, and frameworks such as Node, Lit, React, or Angular.
- Knowledge of vector and motion graphics, including Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), HTML5 Canvas, and animations using JavaScript and CSS (e.g., GreenSock, D3, ProcessingJS, and Web Animation API).
Responsibilities
- Manage and fulfill multiple project requests concurrently while adhering to tight deadlines.
- Collaborate with UX designers and researchers, advising and synthesizing feedback to drive project success.
- Partner with engineers to ensure final implementation and polish, ensuring quality and alignment with UX best practices.
- Ensure all products meet high accessibility standards, making them inclusive and usable by all.
- Serve as a mentor to early career UX engineers and support your peers in professional development.
