Anthropic today announced the creation of the National Security and Public Sector Advisory Council, bringing together leading bipartisan experts in defense, intelligence, energy, and public policy. The Council will help the company support the U.S. government and allied democracies in maintaining technological advantages in an era of strategic competition.

Diverse Expertise on the Advisory Council

The inaugural members include former U.S. Senators, leaders from the CIA, the DOJ, and the Department of Defense. Notable figures include Roy Blunt, David S. Cohen, Lisa Gordon-Hagerty, Jon Tester, and Patrick Shanahan, among others. Their combined expertise spans cybersecurity, nuclear security, defense acquisition, counterterrorism, and intelligence analysis.

Driving High-Impact Applications

The Advisory Council will play a key role in identifying and developing impactful applications of AI in cybersecurity, intelligence, scientific research, and public-private partnerships. Members will also help advance standards that encourage the responsible and competitive adoption of AI across national security domains.

Anthropic has recently accelerated its national security initiatives, including a $200 million Department of Defense partnership, the deployment of Claude Gov models tailored for U.S. security agencies, and collaborations with the Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration.
