![Microsoft Releases Entra PowerShell]()
REDMOND, Wash. — January 2026 — Microsoft has announced the release of Microsoft Entra PowerShell v1.2.0, delivering new features and improvements aimed at simplifying identity and access management for administrators and developers.
The latest version builds on Microsoft’s efforts to modernize identity administration across Entra ID, bringing updated cmdlets, performance improvements, and broader coverage of identity scenarios. Microsoft said the release is part of its ongoing transition away from legacy Azure AD and MSOnline PowerShell modules toward a unified Entra-based management experience.
Version 1.2.0 introduces additional cmdlets that expand support for directory objects, role management, and policy configuration, allowing administrators to automate more identity tasks using PowerShell. The update also includes reliability fixes and refinements intended to improve scripting consistency and reduce friction in large-scale environments.
Microsoft emphasized that Entra PowerShell is designed to align closely with Microsoft Graph, giving administrators a future-ready toolset that matches the company’s long-term identity platform roadmap. As new Entra capabilities are released, corresponding PowerShell support will continue to be added through regular updates.
The company encourages customers currently relying on older identity modules to begin migrating scripts and workflows to Microsoft Entra PowerShell, noting that it offers better coverage, improved security alignment, and ongoing feature investment.
Microsoft Entra PowerShell v1.2.0 is available now via the PowerShell Gallery, and Microsoft recommends that administrators update to the latest version to take advantage of the new capabilities and improvements.
