  Hi Banketeshvar Narayan, could you check the code for the LumiaXMLAdapter.cs class? It seesm that you pasted the same code for both, LumiaXMLAdapter.cs and MyLumiaClient.cs.

  Is calling COM from .NET an example of Adapter pattern?

    No, its proxy becuase CLR exposes COM objects through a proxy called RCW. Primary function of RCW is to marshal calls between a .NET client and a COM object.

    We can use it as per our requirement.. There are a lot of example in .net framework where adapter is used. You can decompile the dll System.Data.dll.. you can find it @ C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_32\System.Data\v4.0_4.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089" version number may differ.

    Decompile this dll and go to the interface IDataAdapter... it will show you the complete details

    As we know that we can implement the adapter pattern in 2 ways using inheritance and using object creation. Based on that there are 2 types of adapter design pattern a. Class Adapter & b. Object Adapter Object Adapter pattern can wrap classes or interfaces or both. Class Adapter pattern can wrap only classes because it is achieved using inheritance. Because inheritance exposes a subclass to details of its parent's implementation, it's often said that 'inheritance breaks encapsulation.
