Really nice post...! But I have a question.... Also I have to do the same but the problem is that when I clicked on RSS image in the Ribbon it shows the RSS content but "Subscribe to this feed" option does not appear. Still I copy the URL from address bar and paste into the rss viewer webpart property. It shows only the List title. I wrote the count query in XSLT it shows count to zero. Is there any reasons as I am not able to see 'Subscribe to this feed option' and Could not see list items in rss viewer webpart?

Actually RSS is a dialect of XML. The actual transmision of information is done by software but not by RSS.
