Do You Know The Most Popular Websites In The World

The internet is considered as a solution to almost everything now. It is expanding at a great pace. When I see year-wise stats of the number of users who have access to the internet, I find this growth skyrocketing. As of June 30, 2018, according to Internet World Stats, we have now around 55.1% of the total world population having access to the internet. This is a huge number when we see the stats of the previous years but there is still a huge scope of expansion that, hopefully, we will see in the coming years. But do you know where does the most of this internet traffic go to? I mean what are the most popular websites among global internet traffic?

Do You Know About The Most Popular Websites In The World

I am very curious by nature. So, I keep on surfing the internet for almost 14 hours a day. According to the stats available on major internet traffic supervising organizations and my own experience, following are the five most popular websites in the world where most of this internet traffic goes to.

Google.com

It is one of the most popular search engine and website in the world. Google now processes over to 44000 searches per second on an average, which is a huge number when you see it on yearly basis. Its major traffic comes from search. Users on an average spend around 7 minutes 36 seconds daily on Google. Google is so popular that for few people Google is the synonym of the internet. Google was started by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1998 as a search directory. But now, it has a whole lot of businesses - It has Gmail for email purposes; it has Youtube as a video streaming website; it has Blogger as a platform for bloggers to create any number of websites on this platform; it has GoogleMaps for navigation purposes; it owns an operating system called Android; it owns Adsense and Adwords also and lot more. We can even write a book about where all Google has invested.

Facebook.com

Facebook is a social networking website started by Mark Zuckerberg in 2004. Its main purpose is to connect people across the world. You can find people from any part of the world and not just them, but also see what is happening in their life. So, if you want to showcase the success of an internet company, then Facebook can be your first name. Because getting so much bigger brand in so less time is just unprecedented kind of thing. On an average, a Facebook user spends 9 minutes 43 seconds daily on Facebook platforms either through website or apps.

Youtube.com

If you have a smartphone connected to the internet, it is near to impossible that you have not used YouTube ever. When it comes to video streaming, this is the most popular website in the world. It ranks third overall globally based on various parameters. However, a few internet majors have conflict in the ranking of Facebook and Youtube. Some show Facebook above Youtube and others show vice-versa. But I when compare stats available on the internet, I find it ranked below Facebook as of the current stats. YouTube users are huge in number and spend on an average of 8 minutes and 39 seconds.

Baidu.com

Baidu is a Chinese search engine. China has a huge population on the internet. Since they have their own search engine, Baidu is number one website in China and globally, it ranks 4. You should also be aware of the fact that Google Search and other associated products are banned in China. As per the stats, Baidu users spend 7 minutes and 19 seconds, on an average, daily on this search engine. Baidu was founded by Robin Li and Eric Xu in the year 2000.

Wikipedia.org

If you want to look out for details of something on the internet, the most trusted and popular website on which the traffic lands to is Wikipedia irrespective of the search engines. They have a great content management system kind of platform which houses information of almost everything in detail and it is made better every day, that too by volunteer authors and reviewers. Wikipedia globally ranks 5 in the world. On average, the Wikipedia users spend around 4 minutes 10 seconds daily on Wikipedia - an online encyclopedia. It was founded by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger in 2001.

So, these are the five most popular websites in the world. These five and few others ( like Qq.com, Amazon.com,Taobao.com, Yahoo.com, Tmall.com, Twitter.com) are the reason for most of the people to be on the internet. Do leave your comments and feedback if you find this article knowledgeable.
