Private Cloud Storage System

INTRODUCTION

Cloud storage is a model of computer data storage in which the digital data is stored in logical pools. Cloud storage services can be accessed through OWNCLOUD API (Application Program Interface) . OWNCLOUD is a suite of client–server software for creating and using file hosting services. OWNCLOUD is free and open-source, and thereby allows anyone to install and operate it without charge on a private server.

In our project we are going to develop our own Private Cloud Storage using Linux server. Our private cloud adoption will help us to reduce costs in many areas. An important objective is reduction of operational costs, which we can achieve by choosing a low-maintenance platform. Because of the usage of a Linux server the security is high.

OUR INNOVATION

The development of private cloud storage is cost efficient and it is fully based on an open source components. Here there is no need to develop a specific server for a cloud, because Linux operating systems contain inbuilt web servers (Apache server). Regular maintenance of a server is not required. Port forwarding is enabled without any cost.

DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

Linux is a family of free and open-source software operating systems based on the Linux kernel. Ubuntu is a free and open-source Linux distribution based operating system. A Linux server is a high-powered variant of the Linux open source operating system that's designed to handle the more demanding needs of business applications such as network and system administration, database management and Web services.

PORT FORWARDING

In computer networking, port forwarding or port mapping is an application of network address translation (NAT) that redirects a communication request from one address and port number combination to another while the packets are traversing a network gateway, such as a router or firewall.

OWN CLOUD AND NGROK

OWNCLOUD is a suite of client–server software for creating and using file hosting services. Ngrok is a multiplatform tunnelling, reverse proxy software that establishes secure tunnels from a public endpoint such as the internet to a locally-running network service.

If you've researched Linux on the internet, it's highly probable that you have come across Ubuntu.

Zorin OS. A majority of computer users are Windows users.

APPLICATION

It's easy to setup the cloud storage. It has private server and cloud access, unlimited expandable storage, it's easy to share with other users, has long range connectivity and less maintenance. We can also create a portable cloud storage system by using Raspberry Pi module.

This article has presented a unique vision of the concepts which are used in this particular field. It aims to promote technology innovation to achieve a reliable and efficient outcome from the various instruments. Experimental work has been carried out successfully in this experiment.
