When you set up crawling to an external site which has an SSL Enabled on it, you may get an error like this,
An unrecognized HTTP response was received when attempting to crawl this item. Verify whether the item can be accessed using your browser. Verify whether the item can be accessed using your browser. (Error from SharePoint site: WebExceptionStatus Trust Failure The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.).
To resolve this issue, follow the given below steps:
- Open the SharePoint Central Administration
- Select Manage service applications, from the Application Management
- Select the Search Service Application.
- Select the Farm Search Administration
- Tick the Channel Box - Ignore SSL warnings to Yes
