Google Glass - What's that?

Google Glass

Google glass is a wearable smartphone worn like a pair of glasses. It was introduced in 2012 by Google and is now available in US with a steep selling price of $1500. It also comes with prescription glasses with $255 extra.

It’s equipped with a touch pad on the side, a 5MP camera to take pictures and videos, a prism projector with 640×360 pixels display equivalent to a 25-inch screen from 8 feet away, a Bone conduction transducer for sound and 16gb of memory.

As said it is almost like a smartphone through which you can make calls, check your emails, send messages and perform various other functions. That 5MP camera can easily take pictures and videos. You can click a picture literally with a blink of an eye (awesome!!!).

It already supports many applications/glassware by Google and third party developers, such as Google+, Google Now, Google Map and Gmail and Third party apps like Facebook, Twitter and Evernote and various others. There is a companion app provided by Google for glass users called MyGlass (available for Android and iOS). MyGlass app enables users to connect to their phone to make calls, send messages and share its data plan to access Internet on glass.

Most of the stuff done on Google glass is through voice commands like "Ok Glass, take a picture", "Ok Glass, what is the temperature". It will show the result directly on the screen as well as read it for you. Best part is that Bone Conduction Transducer directly transmits the sound to the skull, which makes it almost inaudible for anyone nearby.
