Microsoft Hololens Helps Surgeons To Perform Spinal Surgeries

The world is moving with the latest technologies in the market with Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality devices like Microsoft Hololens, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Google VR, Sony PlayStation VR, Samsung Gear VR , Zebronics VR etc. As we know with these devices, we are able to play high end games, interact with the virtual objects, draw or design 3D( dimensional ) objects etc., and these are even used for building or designing structures like bridges.

One of the AR and MR companies known as Scopis has come up with their own idea to perform surgical operations or procedures using Microsoft's HoloLens.

With the help of HoloLens, the 3D scan of patients is taken and visualized by the team of doctors, before performing any surgeries or procedures. Using this device, the doctors can perform spinal surgeries by knowing exactly where the patient is having the problem.

If the patient is suffering from a spinal problem, surgeons can view or track the spine from the AR / MR device called HoloLens and figure it out easily.

One of the biggest advantages of using this device is that a patient doesn't require an X-Ray film to be taken, which causes severe problems in future. With Microsoft's HoloLens, doctors can view the spine just by wearing the device, that looks similar / equivalent to an X-ray film.

This device helps in reducing the surgery time as well as reduces the radiation caused to the patient while performing various kinds of scans using fluoroscopy machines.
