Accessing windows application form fields programmatically

Could you please direct me to correct knowldege source for a C# beginner who is interested in writing an application which can access different form fields in windows application windows open on the desktop. I would like to be able to programmatically access to form fields in different windows.

By default the form's controls will be private; change the access to public and you will be able to work with the controls on the form directly.
