Application pool

Question

Hi, Let us consider there are many applications in an application pool, if one get affected in an application pool will the other applications affect or not. Please reply me. Thanks in advance.

Assume scenario where swimmers swim in swimming pool in the areas reserved for them.what happens if swimmers swim other than the areas reserved for them,the whole thing would become mess.similarly iis uses application pools to seperate one process from another.

Hi, This is depending on what is happening with application... if your code recycle the application pool then all application within these pool are affected. but it is good choice to create different application pool for different application hope this will help you.

Hi, Thanks for ur reply. I have read somewhere that each application pool has its own worker process and all the applications in that app pool will will share that worker process. But you said one application pool can have multiple worker process. which one is correct. Please check and correct me if i'm wrong.

Before Giving the Definition : you can say like this, Concept of Application pool has from IIS 6.0 . Application pools are used to separate sets of IIS worker processes that share the same configuration and application boundaries. Application pools used to isolate our web application for better security, reliability, and availability and performance and keep running with out impacting each other . The worker process serves as the process boundary that separates each application pool so that when one worker process or application is having an issue or recycles, other applications or worker processes are not affected. One Application Pool can have multiple worker process Also. Main Point to Remember: 1. Isolation of Different Web Application 2. Individual worker process for different web application 3. More reliably web application 4. Better Performance
