ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool on IIS

Hello,

I setup my application's users/roles through ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool on production machine. I moved my application from the production computer on IIS of a Windows Server (without Visual Studio installed).

When I run the application, I don't get the functionality based on roles and login cannot be authenticated .

How can I create my users and roles on IIS, in order to have the same functionality as on production computer?

When I try to logon after publishing the project on IIS I get invalid users even though the users exist in the database (aspnetdb.mdf).
You didn't explain still: which website you want to access? Either production or your local published website (which is in your local machine).

I guess, you are trying to access the Production site. At that time you got the error. Try the below tutorial.

Actually the problem was that I didn't have proper rights on app_data folder and aspnetdb.mdf was not accessible.

The link is pretty helpful though so I'm marking it as the correct answer.

Thank you for the answer, I'll try to explain better myself.

I used ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool for Users/Roles which creates aspnetdb.mdf for managing users.
I'm using the same SQL Server for both production and publishing.

When I try to logon after publishing the project on IIS I get invalid users even though the users exist in the database (aspnetdb.mdf).

Did you mean your local laptop or PC? If so, have you had the same DB connected which is pointed in production?

How can I create my users and roles on IIS, in order to have the same functionality as on production computer?

I guess, you should connect the same DB, which is available in production. Otherwise, just take a copy and restore in your local machine.
