assign textbox value to label

Dear All,

I am sai shyam. Here i just want to know how to assign a value entered in a textbox to label in the next form.

example: I have 3 windows forms 1st page is login page, second page is a gridview and third form is a button located in a gridview when i click a button the form will open.

Now when i enter a name in login page i.e., username it should be reflected in 3rd form.

Could you please help me out. Thank you.

Hi Sai,

you can store the username in session and then assign it to label in 3rd form.

after user is succesfully logged in use this line to store value in session.

Session["nameofyourchoice"] = txtUsername.Value;

then in third form use this

lblUsername.Text= Session["nameofyourchoice"];

Hi!!

I have tried like below

In button click i wrote the code like
chat frm = new chat();
frm.LabelText = txtusername.Text;
frm.ShowDialog();

and form3 load i worte the code like
private string labelText;
public string LabelText { get { return labelText; } set { labelText = value; } }
label3.Text = LabelText;
but when i click login button it directly opens form3 but i want form2 should open first and when i click the button in the gridview form3 should open.

Hi Sai,
There is no concept of Session variables in windows forms.
Create a Static class that holds the User name and password and any other variables needed across the application .
In your case it would be something like:
public static class LoginInfo
{
public static string UserID;
}
Now you can access the UserID simply from anywhere in your code:

MessageBox.Show(LogInfo.UserID);
Or set the values after login like

LogInfo.UserID=TextBox1.Text;

Hi!!

I have used in button click as you have suggested. I wrote the code like below

in button click i wrote session["username"]=txtusername.text;
and in 3rd form under form load i wrote label.text=session["username"];

But getting error as the name session does not exist in the current context.

Hi Shyam,

You have button for login. You can assign that value on on button click and use where you want to use.
