Assigning MDI parent to dll project in winforms

Hi All,

I am working on Migration project using C# winforms and ADO.net.

When I am calling C#.Net dll from my main project , the dll form is opening seperately i.e Seperate process.

Please suggest me how to assign My main project MDI form as my dll window MDI Parent form.

Hi James,

When I open Mdi child form from the same project , it is running in same process. but if call the form from the dll , the dll form is running in seperate process. I am unabel to set my main project MDI parent to Dll Form's.

Hi Kanimozhi,

Add the dll as a refrence in your project.
Add a using statement in your code window.

Example code to instanitate an assumed mdi parent form type inside the said dll.
Its possible that you may not need to set is mdi container to true.
If we can assume that it is already true in the compiled dll.
using dllname

namespace MyMainProject
{
    public MyMainClass()
    {
        // Class: MyMainClass
        // whatever will call and open the Mdi parent form
        // from the said dll.

        // MDIParentForm is an assumed form class type in dllname
        private MDIParentForm m_parentForm = null;

        // class contructor
        public MyMainClass()
        {
            m_parentForm = new MDIParentForm();
            m_parentForm.IsMdiContainer = true;
            m_parentForm.Show();
        }
    }
}
