Automatically logout inactive session

Normally, in an asp.net application, if you are using any session handling (inproc, outproc) mode then default session timeout is 20 minutes. You can set it in web.config itself like below:

 

 

So the above line implies that, it will clear the session value of the particular user in the server, however may be still the authenticated user.

 

If you are using "Form authentication" then you can come across the term "sliding expiration", which is always related with session's "timeout", in the sense they are closely related in terms of the context, however, both are different. You can find a more "meaningful" discussion over here:
