C# App for Image Capture and Color detection

Daniel Woolley

Hi Guys i want to build an application that will be able to take a picture of a piece of wood. It will then need to be able to look at that wood and tell me which color brown it is. We dye our wood so we have 5 types of brown and need to know the color of the new pieces of wood that come in so we know which color bath they need to go into. Is this possible and how would i go about this?

The second link shows how you can access the image pixels. I think the problem in your case is determining in which color range the entire image should be. Depending on your setup, a second image of the same board may yield different results (depending on lights, flash, movement). Perhaps you should look into getting a histogram of your image.

I will have a look at that link and will get the camera working and will need to do the color detection side. Any advice or links to see how to setup the color detection?

Here is a thread on capturing webcam images. Once you have the image you can use color detection.
