In that they have mentioned,
To develop with Xamarin in Visual Studio, you must be using at least Visual Studio 2012 Professional or higher. Xamarin willnot work with Express Editions of Visual Studio, as they do not support add-ins.
so you are good to go with your visual studio 2012 professional tool by using the provided screen shots in the link

Now they have updated,

"To develop with Xamarin in Visual Studio, you must be using at least Visual Studio 2015 Professional or higher. Xamarin will not work with Express Editions of Visual Studio, as they do not support add-ins."
