The other main inventors are Scott Wiltamuth and Peter Golde though a number of other people have been involved in the development of the language over the years.

However, from version 6.0 onwards it will be written in C# itself as part of the Roslyn project.
The CLR is also written in C++ and is likely to remain so as it wouldn't be practical to rewrite it in a 'managed' language.
