close the parent window on button click

So, the goal is to eliminate the frames on the page transfer and replace the full browser window with the new page? Does the redirection have to be on the server side? That is, can you make the button an anchor () and set it the target to "_top". That will open the page in the full browser space eliminating the frames (or replacing them with whatever is at the new page). You might also try sending the javascript something like: top.topFrame.location='mynewpage.html' or top.location='mynewpage.html'

i have 2 frames , frame1 and frame 2...so on the click of button in frame2 i want the user to go to a different page.. so inorder to do that i put this code in the button click event of the page. private void Button1_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { string address = "NewPage.aspx"; Response.Write(" ") ; } this opens up a new window for me. what i want is to close the parent window that opened the new one. i tried using Response.Write(""); in the button click event of the parent window, but it didnt seem to recognise it.. is there another way that i can redirect the frame to the new page without having to open a new window or how to close the parent window if i am opening a new window......
