Confusion regarding career goals

Question

Hi,

 

It have been diverse career of 8 years work. In content development for Java, later in software development and production support for 4 odd years. Due to project closure, I had to leave job. Thereafter, I had in low profile job for sometime 2 years.

 

I am good in Java but haven't much exposure in coding success because of the inconsistency in career. Now, I am again preparing for job mostly Java development and production support I have a doubt thinking my further career approach due to following ideas:

 

If I am starting the career from where left, it would take much time to reach a good position.  

 

Whether I need to do break from further studies, such as Executive MBA?But, I had read

Would Big Data and Hadoop be good options for me?  

 

Please help me to  come out of this confusion.
