Could not load file or assembly 'Newtonsoft.Json'

I was trying to launch my web application to Smarterasp.net server, but the following error pops up.

"Could not load file or assembly 'Newtonsoft.Json' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.

Hope there's someone help.

or publish again...it may be version problem also..

i contact the support staff of my hosting server and they update the Application Pool toNET CLR version v4.0.30319, then my site worked perfectly.

Delete all the reference from your project. And load the dll from Nuget package.

Hi,

It can be solved by updating the Newtonsoft.Json to the latest version using

Update-Package Newtonsoft.Json

And Add below in Web.config:

Manas Mohapatrai am appreciated for ur reply, i used .Net Framework version 4 and Newtonsoft.json.dll version 6.0.0.1.
i'll try to downgrade my Newton.json version and see the result

It is mostly your .Net framework version and Newtonsoft.Json dll runtime version is different. So at the runtime it throws error.

Either you need to upgrade your .Net framework version or you have to refer downgrade your Newton.Json dll version.
