Hi,
Ideal process to make deployment on production server.
First of all team need to send notification to all stakehokder and share time slot and down time requires for deployment activity.
Send notification for deployment with email and copy your team member who are require to know this activity. Include list of feature which are part of this release and send notification for do not use repective url of this application until further intimation.
Once deployment done you should share release notes with all feature related to this release.

Very nice question.....So as my team do. Before going to a production update be send a communication across all the team or clients who are using the tool for downtime slot.

Before update we perform all the testing in UAT envirement.
