DLL Reference Error

Hi All,

I am trying to add a dll into c# Windows form App. However, while adding it in reference. i am getting error as shown in pic. I am not aware of the type of dll. Can anyone please help me how can i add this dll to my project.

As already stated, when you saw this type of exception, that means that they are not intended to take reference in your project.

Dlls are type of executables and contains different types of resources in it. Some cannot be referenced and aren't use in your project.

Thank you Amit for the response. I am not aware which type of dll it is. Could you please share any article reference how to use com component in c# project. Meanwhile let me check if readonly has been configured while creating dll or not.

What kind of dll is this?

As it seems in the error, the dll you are referencing in your project is not COM component, hence, it cannot be added to your project, or if it was referenced in your earlier project and unable to add it to your current project then make sure that the dll is not marked as readonly or have read write permission on the path.

Otherwise, you cannot add this dll
