How to read ".docx " and get remove empty spaces using openxml?

I have used the following code.I got "Empty innertext", but my document having text content. but I got Empty innertext.

Using docx As WordprocessingDocument = WordprocessingDocument.Open(mainPath & "\TempInput.docx", True)
Dim paragraphs = docx.MainDocumentPart.Document.Body.Elements(Of Paragraph)().ToList
Dim textParagraph = paragraphs.InnerText ' (textParagraph = "" ) Got Empty String
End Using

I need text content from "paragraphs.InnerText" using openxml in vb.net.

Please Suggests if any ideas.
