Focus buttons

hey, i consulted Microsoft on this one as i though the key press event not firing was very weird. Turns out i needed a service pack for the compact framework as the first release of the compact framewrok doesn't fire all events for every control but service pack 2 fixes this. I think they really need to indicate these things when they do this. Solitaire, thanks for the help.

Maybe this will work (not tested). It should cause a key press of the Enter button to behave the same as if pressing the Tab key to advance to the next control in the tab index. This is C# code, will need to be translated to VB, don't know about the compact framework: if(e.KeyCode==System.Windows.Forms.Keys.Enter){ SendKeys.Send("{TAB}"); }

i guess i should also have mentioned that it's the compact framework and acceptbutton property is unavailable. thanks for the suggested code - that's what i'm doing but the keypress event isn't firing for any key.not event the space bar press.this fires the click event of the button. all very weird if you ask me.Any further ideas?

In your form's properties, set AcceptButton to button control of your choice. This should work about the same as the VB6 Default property of a command button set to True. To simply have the Enter key work with the KeyPress event in the button control, add this code: If e.KeyChar = Chr(13) Then TextBox2.Focus() End If
