Form.Close not working

hi, I am having trouble with a few of my forms, after hiding & showing a form a few times & some data base related actions (mainly updateing data) I am unable to close the from, either by using a button with Me.Close or clicking the X in the top right. When stepping through the code the button click fires and calls the Me.Close and then nothing happens. Anyone else had this problem??
