Highlight the last created .xls file in a folder

Try something like this which uses a LINQ query to get the name of the last created file:

string folderPath = @"c:\myfiles\excel"; // or whatever it is

var di = new System.IO.DirectoryInfo(folderPath);

string lastCreated = di.GetFiles("*.xls").OrderBy(fi => fi.CreationTime).Select(fi => fi.Name).LastOrDefault();

OpenFileDialog ofd = new OpenFileDialog();

ofd.InitialDirectory = folderPath;

if (lastCreated != null) ofd.FileName = lastCreated;

ofd.Filter = "Excel files (*.xls)|*.xls";

ofd.RestoreDirectory = true;

if (ofd.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK)

{

// blah

}
