How could I change format of date ?

i want to chage the date format from 31/Dec/2018 21:42:56 into 2018-12-31 21:42:56 but not as a string . i want it as date time type .

In C# when you will run the below code you can get the output
string dtInString = "31/Dec/2018 21:42:56";
DateTime dtInDateTime = Convert.ToDateTime(dtInString);

The output of the above program will be: 31.12.2018 21:42:56 and 2018-12-31 21:42:56.

but the result will stay the same (31/Dec/2018 21:42:56) i have already this result and what i wanted to . Date Time but with this format 2018-12-31

Suraj Kumar . i want to do that with C# code and not sql . first of all i want to convert it to date time then save it in sql server as date time and not as string

There is no standard format for the readable 8601 format. You can use a custom format:
theDate.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd HH':'mm':'ss")
(The standard format "s" will give you a "T" between the date and the time, not a space.)
DateTime objects - in C# and SQL - are just that, they specify a "point in time" and are stored as a number of milliseconds since a defined date and time. What they don't include is any formatting information, timezone info, or anything else other than "n milliseconds since the base moment".
Everything else is a presentation function, and the only way to preserve that information "for later" is to store it as a string - which is a very, very poor idea as it both prevents you from doing any simple math or comparisons with it, and prevents you showing it in the user's preferred format. Always store it as a DateTime, and convert it to a "presentable" date as late as possible.

You can cast the value of string into Datetime as shown below.
declare @dtInString varchar(20) = '31/Dec/2018 21:42:56'
declare @dtIndateTime DateTime

-- Changing format & Data Type
Select @dtIndateTime = CAST(@dtInString as DateTime)

Select @dtIndateTime as DtInDateTimeFormat
The output will be as shown below.
In C# you can do the same using Convert.ToDateTime() function as shown below.
string dtInString = "31/Dec/2018 21:42:56";
DateTime dtInDateTime = Convert.ToDateTime(dtInString);
