How to Arrange the Gridview based On checkboxlist checked?

Vasanth Jack

I have a Two Gridview

First Gridview Consiste of 13 columns..In above the first gridview i having checkboxlist it contains Headertext of the first gridview.

In the second gridview contains what we are checked in the checkboxlist that get the value from the Firstgirview and bind it int he second gridview..

In this Case First we checked 10th column means it appears first place in the second gridview..After we Check the 2ns column means it occupies the 1st place ..this is my issuue I want the 10th column occupies firstplace and 2ns column occupies 2nd Place

Here is the solution,
DataTable contains rows
DataTable dt = new DataTable();
        dt.Columns.Add("number");
        dt.Columns.Add("name");
        dt.Columns.Add("city");
        dt.Columns.Add("address");
        dt.Columns.Add("country");
        dt.Columns.Add("gender");
        dt.Columns.Add("nation");
        dt.Rows.Add("1");
        GridView1.DataSource = dt;
        GridView1.DataBind();
On button click, binding the 2nd gridview in a sequence
var dt = (DataTable)GridView1.DataSource;
        string[] sequence = { "name", "address", "city", "number", "country" }; ;
        var newdr = dt.DefaultView.ToTable(false, sequence);

        for (int i = 0; i < newdr.Columns.Count; i++)
        {
            newdr.Columns[sequence[i]].SetOrdinal(i);
        }

        GridView2.DataSource = newdr;
        GridView2.DataBind();
Same has been attached.

Hope this helps :)

fr example
FirstCheckboxlist Contains;

[]Name []address []City []State []Number []Country

Second Checkboxlist contains

[.]Address [.]Country [.]Name []Gender [.]Number [.]Country [.]city

So I want the Name in First address shouls be sceond City Shouls be third like this

Finally My output is

private void sortingData(List columname)
{
DataTable dtsorting = new DataTable();
dtsorting = (DataTable)ViewState["data"];
DataTable dummydt = new DataTable();
string id = ViewState["DtValue"].ToString();
string[] arr = id.Split(',');
if (columname.Count > 0)
{
for (int i = 0; i < arr.Length; i++)
{
dummydt = dtsorting.DefaultView.ToTable(false, columname.ToArray());
dummydt.Columns[0].SetOrdinal(i);
grdviw.DataSource = dummydt;
grdviw.DataBind();
}
}
else
{
grdviw.DataSource = null;
grdviw.DataBind();
}

Here i values is get from array.
Array contains my checkbox Values

As you had not mentioned earlier, on which plaform you are working with.

DataTable has a method that help you to reorder its column
dummydt.Columns[0].SetOrdinal(1);
// 0 is columnName/ColumnIndex
// SetOrdinal is the position to be placed
// change your index accordingly
grdviw.DataSource = dummydt;
grdviw.DataBind();
As your code will decrease your performance, as you are binding your gridview under a loop, its better to bind it, outside it.

Hope it helps

The code which was posted, is for runtime itself.

Paste the code after you done working with gridview2. It would be useful, if you share some code.

If I understood your requirement properly, are you asking to reorder the columns?

This can be done like
Gridview1.Columns [ "columnName"].DisplayIndex =1;
// change the index as per your need.
