How to convert .mp4 file to .avi file format while uploading

Do you mean you just want to change the extension of the file from .mp4 to .avi?

If yes, you can do this using one of the following C# methods:

var result = System.IO.Path.ChangeExtension(fileName, ".avi");
//Or
System.IO.File.Move(fileName, Path.ChangeExtension(fileName, ".avi"));

But if you mean you want to change the actual video format from MP4 to AVI, you can use LEADTOOLS Multimedia convert control that supports this type of conversion.
For example, the following code converts an MP4 video file to actual AVI format using the Convert control from LEADTOOLS:

Leadtools.Multimedia.ConvertCtrl _converter = new Leadtools.Multimedia.ConvertCtrl();
_converter.SourceFile = @"C:\Source.MP4";
_converter.TargetFormat = Leadtools.Multimedia.TargetFormatType.AVI;
_converter.VideoCompressors.Mpeg4.Selected = true;
_converter.AudioCompressors.AAC.Selected = true;
_converter.TargetFile = @"C:\Target.AVI";
_converter.RunConvert();
