this works as you expect.
string strValue = "1,500";
int num = int.Parse(strValue, System.Globalization.NumberStyles.AllowThousands);

use any of the following
Convert.ToInt32("1500");// returns int 1500
int.Parse("1500");  // 1500

bool isParsable = Int32.TryParse(1500, out number);

if (isParsable)
    Console.WriteLine(number);
else
    Console.WriteLine("Could not be parsed.");
