how to count 2 SQL queries in 1 query

As per your description, you have two Select statements and you just need the count of each in a single select statement , am i correct?

Then

Declare @count1 int, @count2 int;
set @count1= (select count(*) from table --your first query)
set @count2= (select count(*) from table --your 2nd query);
select @count1 As ActiveProjectCount,@count2 as PastProjectCount;

Suppose your table name : ProjectDetal 

Fields (Name, Technology, LeadId, IsActive, etc..

SELECT 
    count(*) AS TotalProjectCount,
    sum(case when IsActive= 1 then 1 else 0 end) AS ActiveProjectCount,
    sum(case when IsActive= 0 then 1 else 0 end) AS InActiveProjectCount
FROM ProjectDetail
