How to Download files from Database sever in VB.NET

If the document is stored in the database, it would be stored as binary data. You would have to know the file type of the file so that you could reconstruct it and return it to the user.  In general you would want to know the file name and the file type for that purpose.

If the file were just stored in a folder, you could use something as simple as this:

        Response.Clear();

 

        int bytes;

        while ((bytes = fStream.Read(buff, 0, buff.Length)) > 0)

        {

            Response.OutputStream.Write(buff, 0, bytes);

        }

        fStream.Close();

 

        wResponse.Close();

 

        Response.Flush();

        Response.End();
