How to get the position or line throwing exception

I just started learning the IO class and i would like to know How to get the position or line throwing exception while reading the text file and display the message? I would be thankful if you could help me out.

put another variable to count linenumber : int linenumber = 1; while(txtIn.Peek() !=-1) { if(col[0].Length { //add to products.. } else { Console.WriteLine(linenumber) // this line does not get included } linenumber++; }

I believe you will not get any error while reading any particular file. You will get error like file not found. Unable to read the file. You can use generic exception to identify the error. If you are able to recreate the error then please post the code to access further.
