Use any span or lable in place of 10 as mnetioned by Jaish: label for = "edit" id ="lbledit" style ="display:none;" > You have selected span id = "count" > span > rows.If you want to do edit click a href = "#" id = "edit" > here a > label > And in JQUERY where you are getting a=10 use $("#count").text(a)

Did you try replace 10 with Then $("#count").text("10")?
