How to modify methods of my web API without affecting existing client.

Have you heard the word version? Bootstrap v.3,v.4 etc?? why , the only reason of versioning is to prevent problems that may occur in existing projects referencing that. The  client code will break if you change your API code.

So the simple solution is to create another version of the same API.
