How to retrieve data from parent form to Child form

I think the reason why it's not saving is that you have your if and else clauses the wrong way around. Note also that by default the Text property of a TextBox is an empty sting not null. Without seeing any code, I can only guess. But it looks to me like you may be creating a new instance of the BookInventory form and transferring the Book Id to that rather than to the existing instance of the form, assuming it's still open. If you're using code like this at the moment: BookInventory bi = new BookInventory(); bi.txtBookId.Text = bookId.ToString(); bi.txtBookId.Enabled = false; then I'd try instead: BookInventory bi = Application.OpenForms["BookInventory"] as BookInventory; if (bi != null) { bi.txtBookId.Text = bookId.ToString(); bi.txtBookId.Enabled = false; bi.txtQuantityBefore.Focus(); } I'm assuming here that you've changed the Modifier property of the relevant controls on the BookInventory form from private to public (or internal) so that they can be directly accessed from other forms in the application.
