How to return a link referencing to uploaded file?

Matiki Mahlangu

I'm new to ASP.net.

I have created a contact form using ASP.net C# and allowing the clients to attach the file. I upload the file to the folder "~/Uploads/". How do i return the link referencing to this file for later download?

After i upload the file i want to email the link referencing/linked to the file attached and when you click the link it take you straigh to the file as downloaded or it opens the file.

Thanks for the responding however i'm getting the below error;

Error CS1061 'HttpRequest' does not contain a definition for 'CreateResponse'
and no accessible extension method 'CreateResponse' accepting a first argument of type 'HttpRequest' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

1. //Refer the below code docfiles have link
3. if (!Directory.Exists(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/upload/temp/")))
4. {
5. Directory.CreateDirectory(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/upload/temp/"));
6. }
7. var httpRequest = HttpContext.Current.Request;
8. if (httpRequest.Files.Count > 0)
9. {
10. var docfiles = ""; string fileName = "";
11. foreach (string file in httpRequest.Files)
12. {
13. var postedFile = httpRequest.Files[file];
14. fileName = DateTime.Now.ToFileTimeUtc() + postedFile.FileName;
15. var filePath = HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/upload/" + fileName);
16. postedFile.SaveAs(filePath);
17. docfiles = filePath.Replace(HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("/"), "/").Replace("\\", "/");
18. }
20. result = Request.CreateResponse(HttpStatusCode.OK, new { key = fileName, link = docfiles });
21. }
22. else
23. {
24. result = Request.CreateResponse(HttpStatusCode.BadRequest);
25. }
