How to show auto generated serial no. column in Gridview

Question

Dear All,

I need to maintain column in GridView for row count.

I have values with ID,Name,Time with Select & Delete buttons in GridView.

Here, In ID column i dont want to show original values. I need auto generated row count values. but when i select that row i need to retrieve ID & Name.

How can i do this?

Can anybody help me out..

Hi Siva, I suggest you to do it in the sql server side easily. SELECT ROW_NUMBER() OVER(ORDER BY ID ASC) AS [SNO] , ID,Name,Time FROM table_name In the grid, assign the ID value to the hidden control or invisible label control. If you want to do it in the server side then you can do it in the DataTable DataColumn dColumn = new DataColumn(); dColumn.ColumnName = "SNO"; dColumn.AutoIncrement = true; dColumn.AutoSeed = 1; dataTable.Columns.Add(dColumn); Hope this will help you.
