how to store user inputs to be used later.

hello guys i would like to make a form where a users can input answers to some questions

example.............
name, age ,address , tel number , time , date and so on
(and users input the information in a provided field(textbox)

and i want my users data to be stored so that i can use it to obtain organized information out of it. which is the best way to do this ?

For storing the data, there are many ways to store data. One way is to store the data in a XML format. Another way is to store the data in a text file. Another way is to store the data in a file in a binary format. Another way is to store the data in a database. They are all good solutions, depending on what you need to do.

For what you are asking, the best solution might be to store the data as properties. Would there be only one set of data ("name, age ,address , tel number , time , date and so on") per Windows user? If so, then you could use properties, and then the data will be saved in a special XML file and the programming will be very easy.

For the household water and electric consumption, it will be better if you continue with your thread Electric and water usage program.

i have another question about my other project. i would like very much to have your oppinion about it. thanks Hello Guys, i would like to make a program to monitor my household water and electric consumption. It doesn't need to be interactive itself with the water and electric meters the user would need to input reading himself after taking them. I would like it to be user friendly so that the wife or any other member of the family would be able to use it. my idea is to have a window with input fields were the user is asked to enter water readings, electric readings date readings have been taken and time.(these need to be stored so that calculation can be done ) after the user will continue to enter data. Obviously the program has to hold meter charges for water and electric meters, rates per units consumed on some amount of units and another rate on some other amount. For both water and electricity. THE OUTPUT. This would be ideal to show Previous readings, dates readings were taken (water/electric) Latest readings, dates readings were taken (water /electric) Amount of days from previous to latest readings Give estimate bills for both water and electric separately and total of both Show meter charges and after include them in total. Cost per day according to the days between previous and latest readings Units consumed per day for Water and electricity.

The deserialization process extracts the data from the disk file by reconstituting the User object.

You can then assign its properties to the appropriate textboxes.

If you're wanting to store it permanently (i.e. on disk) so you can reload it when the application next runs, then you could create a custom object and then serialize it to disk.

You could store in a session.

something like this:
