Depending on your exact requirements, there should be suitable classes in the LEADTOOLS SDK to help you with them. If all you need is to convert DOC to DOCX or PDF, you can use the DocumentConverters class:

using (DocumentConverter documentConverter = new DocumentConverter())
{
var format = DocumentFormat.Pdf;
var jobData = DocumentConverterJobs.CreateJobData(inFile, outFile, format);
jobData.JobName = "conversion job";
var job = documentConverter.Jobs.CreateJob(jobData);
documentConverter.Jobs.RunJob(job);
}

If you want to extract text from uploaded images and documents, regardless of their format, you can perform OCR. You can find a sample on doing this here:

Check out this forum topic for more features that can be implemented with ASP.NET MVC, including OCR:

It is absolutely NOT an easy job to create your own API for performing file conversion. I suggest that you try 3rd party libraries such as Spire.Doc, which works very well on converting doc/docx to pdf.
